Mrs. Catalina Galvan

Catalina Galvan, age 71, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, in Austin, Texas. She was born on June 18, 1954, to Margil Sanchez and Maria Thomasa Cepeda-Sanchez in Rio Grande City, Texas.

Catalina was a devoted, caring, nurturing, and deeply loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose life revolved around her family.

She is survived by her children: Oscar Joel Sanchez, his wife Sandra Sanchez, Isela Galvan Dove, her husband Chris Dove, Dianira (Dinnie) Galvan Garcia, and Abel Galvan Sr and his wife Frances Martin; her 17 cherished grandchildren: Oscar J. Sanchez Jr., wife Amanda Sanchez, Geraldine (Yvonne) Garcia, Richard L. Garcia Jr., Omar J. Garcia, Brittnay L. Salinas, Sarai Rainy, husband Cody Rainey, Elian J. Sanchez, Victoria R. Galvan, Gianna L. Garcia, Natalie K. Galvan, Annika S. Garcia, Mia Sanchez, Gabriella K. Dove, Abel Galvan Jr., D’Angelo L. Galvan, Axel J. Galvan, and Sophia V. Sanchez; her six beloved great-grandchildren: Landon M. Smith, Leo S. Sanchez, Maya Regalado, Alaynna Zarate, Penelope K. Rainey, Amora J. Maxwell, and Emeline F. Rainy; and her surviving siblings: Margil Domingo Sanchez Jr., Felipe Sanchez, Maria Linda Salmon, Melba Saenz and Daniel Sanchez.

She was preceded in death by her father, Margil Sanchez; her mother, Maria Thomasa Sanchez; and her nephew, Danny Sanchez and great-grandson, Bryson Sanchez.

 

Viewing will be at Rodriguez Funeral Home on Friday February 13 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday February 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. following her burial at the Rio Grande City Cemetery.
